He bought a truck

17 years ago, he bought a truck.  My 1/2 unit that is.  He bought a truck from my family's used car lot.  I'd seen him before...Tall (extremely), handsome (takes my breath) wearing a badge.  That's right.  I fell for an officer.  Well, sort of.  He hadn't been one for very long, a few months in fact.  I fell fast and within 10 months, I became a 1/2 unit.  A spouse of a Law Enforcement Officer.

We've been married for just over 16 years, have 3 great kids and a life I wouldn't give or pay someone to take.  But this life isn't an easy one.  Most days, it's a leap into the great unknown.  Because everyday when he puts the badge and the gun on.....well, I guess none of us know.

He took an oath, I made it mine.  He takes pride in his job, I take pride in him.  He gives 100% to the job, I give 200% to this crazy life.

It's more than being a supportive wife.  It's more than worrying about him when he goes out the door.  It's about learning to be a single parent, yet wearing a wedding ring.  About living a life planned without him even though you are married to him.

I've seen several blogs about being a Law Enforcement Wife, many of which are great, but some I feel don't cover the feelings that well.  Why?  Walls, Amour, the fences; tools that we use to deal with the hurt, the lonlieness of this life.  These are my feelings, mixed w/ a bit of country humor and honesty about being a 1/2 unit in this Whole Life.  Come back for the next chapter.
